This model specific wide-waisted rubber grommet sits within the bracket attached to the back of the head-light panel.  The lower end of the bonnet stay locates/rotates within this grommet to operate the bonnet opening sliding mechanism attached to the underside of the bonnet as shown in the attached diagram.

A worn/perished/absent grommet is likely to cause the bonnet opening mechanism to fail with the possibility of the bonnet falling down on the MOT Tester’s head. So do you want your Ami to pass its MOT?
